Schlumberger Water Services provides engineering services in the areas of groundwater supply, wellfield design, wellfield operation, aquifer recharge, water rights and conjunctive use. Our groundwater hydrologists and engineers have designed deep production wells and wellfields in desert environments that are capable of producing many thousands of gallons per minute of yield. Schlumberger Water Services has modeled the operation of large wellfields, including assessment of safe yields and potential impacts to other well users. We have assisted clients with the design and operation of pipeline systems to transport water from wellfields to end users. Schlumberger Water Services has extensive capabilities in unsaturated flow that are used to evaluate aquifer recharge for water storage and supply. Services offered for groundwater engineering include:

  • Drilling program management
  • Well design, construction and development
  • Aquifer testing and analysis
  • Wellfield design and operation
  • Aquifer storage and recharge
  • Pumps and piping system design
  • Costing
  • Operation and maintenance plans
  • Impact assessments
  • Water rights

Project Examples:

Title:  LOCAR drilling programme
Location:  UK
Client:  Natural Environment Research Council
Description:

Schlumberger Water Services was appointed by NERC, as part of a consortium with Hydro-Logic Ltd, BGS, and CEH Wallingford, to manage the installation of about £3 million of scientific monitoring infrastructure in three flagship catchments, under the LOCAR programme (lowland catchment research). This involved the successful implementation of a complex programme of high-value contracts, including managing a major drilling programme that installed about 75 monitoring boreholes. For this, Schlumberger Water Services's role included managing the tendering process, land acquisition, drilling supervision and financial reporting.
